Shirley had long dreamed of visiting Chaco Culture National Historical Park, espcially on a solar holiday. (Why would we want to visit on a solar holiday? The Traditions of the Sun website will give you an idea.) On winter solstice, Chaco was the high point of a very fun week, during which Naomi and Steve hosted us at their home in Albuquerque. We visited with Shirley's longtime friend Flo and with Susan's sister Cynthia, hiked the hoodoos in the new Ojito badlands wilderness study area, andwandered the Rio Grande Valley State Park in the bosque area in the city.
Here is a sampling of Susan's photos.
You can see all of them in her kodakgallery album.
