The Cornish Coast

One is never far from the sea in Cornwall.

A coastal path encircles all of Cornwall, as well as Wales and the county between. We had several pleasant days exploring it, and can't wait to go back.

The islet in the background is St. Michael's' Mount, in the middle ages a monastery founded by the Benedictines as an offshoot of Mt. St. Michel in France. Now, it's topped by a castle in which the lord and lady still live, but is owned by the National Trust. The gardens are the best part of visiting the Mount.

Just as she does in the woods at home, and did on the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota, Susan enjoyed the beauty and variety of lichen.

Susan spent hours exploring the tide pools at Marazion

St. Helen's Oratory (circa 600 AD Irish missionary), at Cape Cornwall
