Our convivial group had many experiences that defy description. We will never forget:

Wenzu the Magnificent, an ox who is the direct descendant of the earliest breeds of this mighty beast (this is an artifact from the archaeological museum). The horned bull is a sacred symbol in many ancient cultures, including Malta's.

Susan didn't get any good pictures of Wenzu, but she got some good ones of the rest of us trying to!

• Ayla, looking very archetypal Maltese, scaring the bejesus out of Italian teenagers in the catacombs
• MG's playing "name that tune" in bee, mosquito, and the ultimate -- praying mantis!
• Karaoke with Maltese lesbians in the hotel bar
• Building "chrome age" temples out of found materials at our last dinner together
