Perhaps the primary tourist attraction of Malta is the Knights of the Order of St. John, and we couldn't escape them. While they are only history in Malta now, it seems they still exist today and are in fact a "sovereign entity," and still take themselves quite seriously, even if we didn't.

We were fascinated by the huge illuminated choral manuscripts in the co-cathedral of St. John, a high baroque edifice that defies description.
